About the Founder: Jacquelyn Pepin Slade
A passionate activist and jazz vocalist, Jacquelyn Slade works to empower others through political advocacy and musical performance. Jacquelyn has studied flute since she was 9 under the direction of Ruthie Carver and Margarita Loukachkina and studied voice under the direction of Charenée Wade and Heather Flower-Rogers.
As an activist, Jacquelyn serves as the Co-President of the League of Women Voters of Carroll County, where she had led both a social media team as well as pioneering the creation of the 2022 Carroll County League of Women Voter’s Guide. She testified on behalf of the League of Women Voters for the Student and Military Voter Empowerment Act, which later passed the Maryland Senate and House of Delegates. She also serves as the Peabody Coordinator for Hopkins Votes. She works to empower all voices through encouraging voting, as everyone deserves to be heard by their representatives at the city, county, state, and federal levels. Jacquelyn has also worked on numerous political campaigns, including Brooke Lierman for Comptroller and Allison Galbraith for Congress.
As a musician, Jacquelyn sings all across Baltimore, and enjoys jazz, musical theatre, and pop music. She also performed with Charenée Wade’s Jazz Vocal Combo in 2022 at An Die Musik in Baltimore, most notably singing "Fever". She hopes that her music will inspire and bring joy to others in the community.
